Course Content
This course is designed for students who are new to Hindustani Classical Music and wish to build a strong foundation in the art form. It introduces the basics of swara (notes), alankars (patterns), shruti (pitch accuracy), and simple ragas, while nurturing a sense of rhythm and voice culture.
Students will learn to identify and sing basic ragas such as Yaman, Bhupali, and Durga, along with practice in Alaap, Sargam, and simple compositions (bandishes). The course also covers basic taal structures like Teentaal and Dadra, enabling students to develop laya (sense of rhythm).
Focus will be placed on voice training, breath control, and proper posture, ensuring that learners gain confidence and clarity in singing.
By the end of this beginner course, students will be able to:
- Sing fundamental swaras and alankars with accuracy.
- Perform simple bandishes in basic ragas.
- Recognize and keep rhythm in common taals.
Develop discipline for daily riyaaz (practice).
